Formal attire is no longer a must. What you wear is a nod towards your personal brand, if your clients are more likely to see you in Converse than suited and booted that’s fine. However, casual does not mean unkempt, so make friends with an iron and your hairbrush. Colours matter and rich jewel tones work well. Patterns can be tricky and are best avoided if you are worried about being outshone by your clothes. A headshot is, of course, focused on your upper body, so avoid dangly jewellery and off the shoulder tops, which could be cropped out.
